STUDIO 48 ARTISANS ASYLUM
Studio 48, Greene’s Boston area studio and gallery, is part of Artisan’s Asylum, a leader in the world makerspace movement. The Asylum is a seven-year-old community of more than 300 inventors, entrepreneurs, engineers, fabricators and artists sharing fabrication facilities in 40,000 square feet of the old Ames Envelope factory in Somerville, MA.
Many local, state and foreign government officials and representatives have come to the Artisan's Asylum to study it as an entrepreneurial coworking space and start up incubator for small businesses with a light manufacturing or prototyping component.
Recent visitors include Air Liquide's CEO, Kosovo's Ministry of Finance and Economic Development, Massachusetts Governor Patrick, Massachusetts Secretary of Housing and Economic Development Bialecki, Massachusetts Secretary of Energy and Environmental Affairs Sullivan, Massachusetts State Representative Toomey, Massachusetts Creative Industries Director Fruscio, Somerville Mayor Curtatone, the Alderment of the City of Somerville, the Cambridge and Somerville Chambers of Commerce, MIT Sloan School of Management, Yale Entrepreneurs, the National Science Foundation and the Mandela Washington Fellows from Africa.
Greene has served as chairman of the board for Artisan’s Asylum and has written about it for the Boston Globe.
