Hazelnut Rush

Hazelnut Rush was named to commemorate a remarkable studio conversation with British synesthete and composer, BBC reporter LJ Rich. Synesthesia is the phenomenon of one sensory input also triggering a sensory experience for a different sense. Rich perceives taste and sound when she sees and touches and reported that Hazelnut Rush (at the time, Bronze I, untitled) tasted like a particular kind of British chocolate bar with crunchy bits of hazelnut. Rich later sent this musical composition, the sound of looking at Hazelnut Rush:

Rich reported on the taste of one other piece in the studio – Amoeba Cross - a blue raspberry freeze pop.

Hazelnut Rush, Greene’s first work in plasma cut bronze, was created for Greene’s 2015 Boston area solo show, A Dozen in Bronze.
